Michigan Ceramics Artists Exhibition 2014
january 25 — may 17, 2015
Michigan Ceramics 2014 celebrates the innovative work of leading regional ceramicists through diverse examples of forms, techniques, and materials. This exhibition features pieces by 24 artists who created their work employing various methods including hand and machine pressing, coiling, rolling, throwing, carving, and wood-firing. The pieces range from unglazed to a variable encyclopedia of glazes, and from the utilitarian to the whimsical to the conceptual. Michigan Ceramics 2014 explores the diversity and excellence of contemporary ceramics across the state.
This biennial juried exhibition, presenting the work of regional artists, is produced under the leadership of the Michigan Ceramic Art Association (MCAA). Founded in 1958, MCAA is a membership based organization of artists, educators, and ceramic enthusiasts dedicated to the promotion and appreciation of the ceramic arts and their creators. The exhibition was juried by Andrea Gill, internationally recognized ceramicist and professor of Ceramic Art at Alfred University’s School of Art and Design in Alfred, New York.
